Interface problem: Slow send, fast receive (iperf)
Hi,
I currently own a Netgear Readynas NVX Pioneer and recently started experiencing performance problems.
I got very low transfer speeds with both NFS and SMB (on both Windows and Ubuntu). With slow I mean dead slow, less than 1 MB/s, 2 MB/s if I'm lucky. I replaced the network cables but I got no success. I compiled the latest version of iperf for both the ReadyNAS and my Ubuntu workstation. I ran some speed tests, and found out the following:
Ubuntu workstation as client, ReadyNAS as server:
Almost gigabit, as I would expect.
Workstation as server, ReadyNAS as client:
Dead slow performance.
As you can see is a "upload" to the NAS fast, but a download dead slow.
What would cause something like this? How can I diagnose the cause? And how do I resolve this problem?
Thanks in advance. :)
Kind regards,
Sebazzz

Client connecting to 192.168.0.73, TCP port 5001
TCP window size: 0.02 MByte (default)

Dead slow performance.

- SebazzzAspirantIn the mean while I discovered the following.
This event only happens with the ReadyNAS eth0 interface. The ReadyNAS eth1 interface works perfectly, receiving and sending. The eth0 interface is still slow on the sending side. - bpappinAspirantI have the exact same problem in a ReadyNAS Duo against OSX Lion.
I'm getting download speeds from the NAS in the kilobytes/s and uploads that I expect for a gigabit network.
The logs show that it thinks there is a network problem, but its strange that its only in one direction in that case. - vukodlakTutorI"ve been having this problem since I bought my NVX. Uploading to it is fine. Downloading is dead slow. I cannot stream my movies. Sometimes rebooting he;ps but it eventually comes back to being dead slow. This happens on both interfaces.
