Is it possible to skip a full backup on NV+ V2 ?
Hi guys,
I have a movies collection that's on an external HDD and also on the NAS. They have both been "collected" from movies off another drive. Neither the new drive or the NAS have had a backup job so far created between them as both the NAS and the external HDD currently both share identical contents, so it seems pointless.
My plan is to use the external HDD to add movies (which I can do via my laptop or at work), then when I get home, run a backup job on the NAS to backup new contents from the external HDD to the NAS. Problem is, whenever I've tried this, the NV+ V2 tries to do a complete backup (as the backup job hasn't been run at least once), but with nearly 2tb of movies, I don't want the NAS to take 2-3 days copying all the contents again just to update a couple of movies. Therefore is there anyway to force the NV+ V2 to do an incremental backup only at first run rather then the full backup.

- It should not actually do a full backup unless you have the option ticked (Remove the contents of the backup destination before a full backup is performed) it should check and only copy what is not there as its incremental.
- Though for the v1, the v2 is probably running the same /frontview/bin/backup script for all the backup jobs. You can find some clues here on how it determines if/when to run Full/Incremental: viewtopic.php?p=275775#p275775
- I think you should be able to "trick" the NAS into doing an incremental backup by running the job first on a single file or folder (say a sub-sub-sub directory); then once that has finished you alter the source + destination back to the head directory.
