Linux repos
Has anyone worked out to how create their own local mirror or access an alternative mirror for the readynas Linux apt repos?

Their ReadyNAS repos are already off-line (at least they were the last time I checked).

Which one specifically? I thought I had managed to mirror the ones I needed, but now you worry me!

Just checked again, and they are up again. Would have been nice if Netgear had let me know after I requested that they be restored.

Did you ever get access to the ‘dev’ files, to allow install of build essentials such as glibc?

build-essential is actually in the debian repos - not provided by Netgear. I tried installing it on my RN526 earlier today, and that was successful.
That said, I haven't tried to build anything.
I don't know where the SDK is stored, or what it would take to get access to it now.
