Mount previously created raid via USB

I'm sorry to ask so may questions. I know enough to get around linux, but am by no means proficient.
I re-ran
vgscan and mdadm --assemble --scan
I don't see /dev/md0 or md1. /dev/md2 is present.
Was I correct in running those commands? Am I missing something?
