So, I upgraded to ML, and now my TM icon has the exclamation mark on it. If I try to manually start the backup I'm told the disk isn't available. If I try to select the backup disk in TM prefs I canno...
Again, I can confirm that redpola's first solution still works for me.
I just had to do 'sudo tmutil setdestination /Volumes/YOUR_BACKUP_VOLUME' once and when I startup/shutdown the NAS or my MBP, TM backups - scheduled or not - are still working fine :-).
