Name a USB Drive - not working
I recently updated the OS to 6.9.6 which is the Long-Term-Support version of 6.10.2. The release notes of 6.10.2 say that "USB Label can be set when formatting USB". But I was unable to set the label during formatting.
Now, to be clear, there are two parts to the label, a name and a description.
The name is what ReadyNAS auto-assigned to USB_HDD_X. This is what I want to change. X is just a digit (probably a sequence number).
The description is something I am able to change but that is not what I am looking for.
Note that, I couldn't set the name either during formatting or later, using the settings on the "shares" page.
Am I doing anything worng? Please help.

Were you able to change the Label when you are at 6.10.2? are you saying that changing to LTS 6.9.6 USB "Label can be set when formatting USB" was not included?
Or you updated to 6.9.6 only and the fix was not included? If that's the case can you try going to 6.10.2

I never updated to 6.10.2 as it was not an LTS release. I went straight from 6.9.5 Hotfix 1 to 6.9.6. I have two ReadyNAS hardware (RN314 and RN424). Both running 6.9.6 and both were updated straight from 6.9.5 Hotfix 1 to 6.9.6.
It seems that the fix was not included in 6.9.6.
I won't like to experiment with 6.10.2. I waited so long for the 6.9.6 LTS to come out. These are my production boxes; I rely on them heavily.
Isn't there another way?
Thanks you.

You clearly don't understand how the LTS and Stable versioning works. 6.9.6 would not be derived from 6.10.2, it would be derived from 6.9.5. 6.10.3 is derived from 6.10.2. So your expectation that a change made in 6.10.2 would be in 6.9.6 is incorrect. It would be only if documented in the 6.9.6 release notes. At some point, we should expect an LTS migration to the 6.10.x development path, or you can choose to move there yourself.
