what is the firmware version of your Pro 2?latest version is 4.2.22,not sure why your USB drive can not recognized in NAS.
copying with -50 error message should be the problem with Appledouble folders.
Here is a way to copy data from your Mac machine to NAS without being stopped by Mac OS
1.Enable Rsync service on your shares of NAS
2.download Rsync for Mac software http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/20983/arrsync
3.select folders you want to copy to NAS.
