Need to downgrade from 6.7.0 to 6.6.1

Anyone knows how to downgrade from 6.7.0 to 6.6.1?

Our NAS is unstable and we're unable to access our files with Egnyte.

  • 6.7.0 is a major upgrade.

For the most part there would be workarounds for issues encountered e.g. OOMing.

  • Should at least be pointed out that it is advised against:

I have seen, but can't find it at the moment, one user's experience having done that without immediate ill effect.  Obviously, YMMV.

In my case, there was an issue with snapshots vs. quotas.  We were able to make temporary changes that will hopefully tide us over until a new release.  Maybe if you posted some more details about your specific issues, you might be able to find a workaround?

Of course, maybe you've already tried that...  in that case, sorry for not having more useful advice.

in our case it makes the Egnyte apps freeze up. Already talk to Egnyte support and it's certainly a Netgear problem reason that 6.7.0 got pulled back.

What changes did you make to the NAS?

Sorry for not being clear...  our problem was not related to Egnyte.

"Devices updated with 6.7.0 firmware should not be downgraded to earlier firmware versions."

    Short answer: you cannot.

Long answer: maybe you can, but it's incovenient, dangerous and unknown.

The "cleanest" way to downgrade would be to load the older firmware onto the flash via USB Boot Recovery, then to reset the NAS to Factory Default, wiping everything (all data gone). And it's, of course, no without risks. So I'm guessing, you don't want to do that.

Installing an older image on the NAS using the GUI is sometimes possible, but it's not supported and you may create some untested situations, such as issues with services or even complete inability to boot the NAS. It's untested, anything can happen...
