I dont know of any recovery mode in the ReadyNAS 214. The OS reinstall resets the firmware back to "safe" version in the flash memory according to the manual. The OS reinstall option is the only one that has let me access the Admin page to troubleshoot, but you can see even here that some corruption is present. It also resets the admin password back to default.
I'll upload some screenshots of the errors I receive when I access the Admin page after booting in OS reinstall mode. The logs were also not accessible/downloadable, but I was just able to download them. Previously the dbbroker had brought up an error. How can I upload them? This page only allows PDF, GIF, PNG and JPG.

The "Safe" mode is what I am talking about. OS reinstall isn't the only thing that can trigger it.

Don't post them publicly, there is some privacy leakage when you do that.
If you want me to take a look at them, you can upload them to cloud storage (dropbox, google drive, etc) and send me a private message (PM) with a download link. Make sure the link permissions are set so anyone with the link can download.
