Same issue.
I have recently upgraded hard drives and did a complete Factory Reset.
Every share I setup is asking for a password even though NO password has been set.
I'm on Firmware 4.1.10 with a ReadyNAS NV+
My security setting is set to SHARE and the workgroup is correct for my Windows settings.
From what i can see from my notes, the settings are identical to the settings I had before upgrading.
My plan was to install the new hard drives, create the shares, and then manually copy my files back in.
2 of 3 normally isn't bad - but this is a total fail. I can't access the new shares because it keeps asking for a password that isn't set.
YES, I tried the admin password. NO, that did not work.
