Network Password issues

In case it helps some-one, I've been having a similar problem to the OP, as follows:-
After upgrade to Windows 7 Professional, I keep getting prompted for username/ pw to access my ReadyNas share. No surprise there, except that - as described by the OP - the user name was pre-fixed with a Domain name (name of computer) and the correct user/pw combination always failed.
After trying various internet advice such as above, to no avail, I stumbled onto the idea that I was already connected (to guest access) and this seems to have been the cause. Perhaps Win7 was irrelevant.
To fix - I closed off the window to the NAS folders and closed off iTunes (which may have had the NAS open as my iTunes library is located there).
Then I was able to login with the username and pw of my choice.... successfully and obtaining the access I required to the NAS.
