Your mistake is right here. You have an NV+ v1 (v2 platforms all run 5.x.x firmware). The v1 is limited to 2 TB drives, because there is no GPT support.

I no longer recommend desktop drives in any NAS (whether they are on the HCL or not). Both Seagate and Western Digital have NAS-purposed products (Seagate VN drives, WDC Red and Red Pro). They are much better choices.
Lots of NAS owners (not just ReadyNAS) have had issues specifically with the Seagate DM drives.
