New SMTP problem - email alerts
So this feature seems to have stopped working randomly. I did go through a recent update of a bunch of fairly standard security questions in my google account, required for use of google authenticator on a new mobile device. This is kind of old and not official but looks good: http://www.rnasguide.com/2010/09/20/usi ... -readynas/ . I tried about everything possible using this guide. Thoughts? Thanks much.

That does work, however, I found the workaround which doesn't require this. For devices without support for 2 step verification one needs to make an application specific password or "App password" as google calls it. It is under Account>App passwords. Generate a custom password, use that password in place of your regular gmail password. Works like a charm!
