The SMART test is run by the drive itself.
Did you run the Quick Test in Lifeguard (which is the SMART test)? Or just the extended test?

Lifeguard detected the error too. I will then contact the disk manufacterer/reseller.

I'm glad I could help you get it sorted.

Western Digital will exchange it for a recertified disk with a shorter warranty (I think 1 year).
The reseller would exchange it for a new disk, which is of course better for you. So see if they will accept it first (you likely are out of their normal return window).
