"Newly added disk has failed SMART test" but passes WD SMart tests

Question

Replacement harddrive fails on insertion. Also, on system reboot. Your SMART stats are showing a lot of pending sectors.

I suggest testing with lifeguard again - running both the full non-destructive test and the full erase (write zeros) test.

I ran a full erase, then a quick test.&nbsp; The drive then failed the quick test.&nbsp; So, indeed the drive is bad.&nbsp;I used another replacement drive and rebuilt the RAID set.&nbsp; Works fine now.&nbsp;Thanks for your help.
