No Drives / Disks Detected in Raidar software

My Readynas X6/600 Model is saying there no disk detected even though there is a hard drive in slot 1.

What should I do to get it working again?

P.S. For some reason its showing up as a model TERANAS whatever that means.

Please help!!

    What version of RAIDiator?

TERANAS indicates that it is an OEM rebranded unit. Where did you get this unit? You should know that it is an OEM rebranded unit from when you purchased it.

If so have you followed the procedure to install RAIDiator 2.x firmware to the flash, do a factory default, install the Fix Vendor ID add-on and then update the firmware to the latest and do another factory reset?

Can you send me the procedure or a link to it?

I purchased it from Craigslist from a business that went bankrupt.

    Thanks

Has it ever been working since you had it? What version of RAIDiator was it running then?

Do you have a PC or Mac?

Is it a Rev A or a Rev B? If it's a Rev A it should have a removable CF card that you can flash.

Are there any stickers on it which might give some clues as to which vendor you purchased the unit from?

The unit does not use compact flash, it used like a RAM module it looks like.

The sticker on the bottom of the unit said " NSP Appliance RN600"

    I have a PC computer.

I do not know if I never had it working, I have a few of these raid systems and I loose track of which one is which sometimes.

I am trying to put in 2TB drives now, are you thinking it has such an old version of the firmware that the 2TB drive is unrecognizable?

    Thanks

One would have thought it would recognise the 2TB disk even if it can't use it but there is a good chance that it has very old firmware.

Could you try removing the 2TB disks, putting in a single low-capacity disk, doing a factory default (http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu) and seeing if the NAS comes up?

Could I also try a USB thumb drive recovery to the latest firmware or is the unit locked for that vender?

IF it is locked, could it possible unlocked and turned into a standard readynas?

    Thanks

Whether it's locked to the original vendor's firmware depends on whether the Fix Vendor ID add-on has been installed or not.

I'd try the low capacity disk first and see if the NAS comes up.

If you try a USB Boot Recovery post what you see in RAIDar (under the far right Info column) when attempting to boot the NAS afterwards.

It seemed to work on a lower capacity disk (750GB), I did a flash drive recovery to ReadyNAS_USB_Flash_Recovery-4.1.10 and did a factory reset. Seem to be working so far, now I have to see about the 2TB drive situation.

    I will keep you posted.

    Thanks
