NT4 Domain compatibility
Hi all,
Before buying a ReadyNAS 516 , I would be sure that it is possible to join it to a NT4 Domain served by a Samba 3.5 PDC , and to authenticate users and groups on the domain ? We don't have ADS at all.
I have done such configuration some years ago with a ReadyNAS NV+ . But since NT4 Domain is an old technology, I am not sure it is still supported by ReadyNAS OS 6 .
Thanks for your answer.

Too bad I didn't find this article earlier. I just bought ReadyNAS 104 and know I can't use it with my Samba NT4 domain and I'm shocked and frustrated. My old NV+ worked perfectly and also Synology & QNAP still have support for this. Netgear is the only one who completely removed NT4 domain support.
Thank you Netgear for doing this leaving all Home & Small Business Users without beeing able to integrate the OS6 devices into their domain! Maybe there is a solution as Samba4 seems to have the possibility to create a AD compatible server. But how compatible is it? Will it work with OS6? Probably nobody has an answer os most users didn't take the adventure trying to setup Samba in AD mode as it's a lot to configure and to get it really right.
It just doesn't fit. On one hand Netgear is selling good & cheap devices like the 1xx series for Home users, on the other hand the software is purely business oriented!!!! Sorry Netgear you really have to learn on that aspect at the Moment I really think if I should sell me newly bought ReadNAS104 and buy me a full featured sonology. Maybe I'll keep it as it's only my backup device. But I'm still very dissatisfied with my purchase as I never dreamt of having no NT4 domain support.
- zouriteAspirantThanks for the link. This VM is very great to test all features in real life.
Nevertheless, the conclusion is that ReadNAS OS 6 does not support NT Domains. The only possible directory is ADS , even LDAP is not supported  .
I have to look at other NAS providers .
Thanks
