NV+ in DebugMode [50507]

My office building had a power outage last night. I have my NV+ on a UPS, but perhaps that wasn't enough.

Today, the power LED is blinking slowly and the display shows
DebugMode[50507]
and then the IP number of the unit.

RAIDar shows the unit with a status light of blue: "Background task active A lengthy background task such as a system update is in progress."

This has been the status for the last three hours. Any indication when this might be done? Or should I be re-booting into some other state?

  • After 36 hours, the system had not changed its display. I didn't see any responses to this posting, so I decided to reset the server.

I was unable to get the system to power-down with any manipulation of the power button, so I ended up just unplugging it.

After plugging it back in, I powered up with the Universal Tool Of Power (paper clip, with one leg straightened) inserted into the reset button hole.

The system came back up fine, though it took about 20 minutes to self-inspect the disks. It has been working fine since then.

Just thought I should post the solution that worked for me....

If someone turned the NAS on after the power outage holding the power button for about 15 seconds (3 LED blinks) it would enter tech support mode (which your unit entered). Unplugging the power is safe to do when the NAS is in this mode unless a tech has logged in and started the RAID and is working to fix an issue on a system.
