Nv+ issues?
Hi All,
I came home from work and saw that my NV+ was off? No UPS but the power did not go out. Not sure why it was off. I turned it on and the boot cycle has been going on saying "booting..." for a while 10+ minutes. I powered it down I disconnected it from the network and disconnected a USB backup drive and tried starting it up again. It still says booting but now it also says "checking root FS"
None of the drive lights are on. (4x500gb)
What could be causing this and is this an issue I need to be worried about?
What checks/steps should I take?
Thanks,
Jeff

- de_niroGuideMany reasons would caused NAS unbootable,I would like to suggest you contact support center to find further help.
- jturn00AspirantI just woke this morning to see that it was saying there was a bad disk. Holding down the power di nothing so I needed to un plug it.
Can I number the disks, take them out and boot up the nas to check the logs to see which disk or disks failed? Can I put in all the disks back except for the bad disk?
Thanks jeff
I have a backup. - jturn00AspirantIs there a quick way to see the log files to see which disk failed and/or the issue?
Jeff
P.S. I opened a help desk ticket but I am still waiting to hear back from them (case number is: 16393741) - dwaltersAspirantThe same thing is happening to me with my NV+. It started last week. It just keeps saying "Booting....Checking File System."
However, I have not seen the bad disk message yet.
It is pingable, but that is it. (No web, no Raidar)
Did you get anywhere or any suggestions that helped?
-Thanks - jturn00AspirantNo. i am now getting this error with the blinking lights. Corrupted, do not mix used disks and cold boot up. In most cases, problem may be solved by OS reinstall with optional NAND recovery. Contact tech support before taking actions.
- PapaBear1ApprenticeDo either of you have current and complete backups of your data?

Not sure if it 1 or two days old but I had a 2tb drive set to backup the entire volume c through usb port. Also have really important files backed up on disks off site. Really would hate to go through trouble of setting everything up again. - PapaBear1ApprenticeIf you suspect a failed drive, it would probably be a good idea to shut the unit down and connect each drive to an SATA port on a desktop MB and run the vendor tools to test each drive.
However, if you are getting a corrupt root error on your LCD panel, you may be better off to work with tech support. - jturn00AspirantDoes putting it in tech mode allow me to see the ip address? I don't remember it and need it to allow tech support to get through the router.
- PapaBear1ApprenticeIf you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7, if you open the Network and Sharing Center and then click on see full map. All the registered network devices will be shown. Mousing over the network device will show the IP address of that item. What is not clear is if the NAS will be shown when it is not booted.
