NV+ Maintenance - New HDD? Browser Support?
My NV+ is running firmware version 4.1.16. A few months ago I noticed that it seems to be losing files and directories, even though the drives appear to be working fine. They are however, 11 year...

When I try to log into the NAS with a browser, the browser reports "unsupported protocol" errors (Firefox, Chrome, and IE/Edge). Can anyone tell me if there are any browsers that support the NV+ protocol?

Yesterday I installed the first replacement, a 2Tb WD2002FAEX, which is on the HDD compatibility list.
For the remaining 3 drives, should I stick with the WD2002FAEX, or instead go with another HDD on the compatibility list?
Personally I would have gone with either a WD20EFRX (WD Red Plus) or an ST2000VN004 (Seagate Ironwolf) instead of getting an out-of-production drive. Though I have no reason to think the WD black drive you purchased won't work.
FWIW, the compatibility list for legacy NAS hasn't been updated for some years, so it is no longer a useful guide. NAS-purposed CMR drives (like the two above) are good choices, as are enterprise-class. Many 2 TB desktop drives are SMR, and are not good choices.

The NV+ has resynched and appears to be working fine, but it reports 5 ATA errors on the new drive. Is this something I need be concerned with?
Hard to say, but keep an eye on the stats and see if they increase.

Thanks for the recommendations. I've ordered a WD20EFRX, will install it and see what happens.
I'll have to read the Workaround thread a couple times to feel confident in having a go at it.
Thanks again!

It is long. But the net for the NV+ is that you can access frontview with any of these:
- IE or Edge in IE mode
- FireFox 94.0.2
- Current Firefox with TLS 1.0 enabled (look at the end of the thread)
Then *if you like you could go back to the beginning of the thread, and edit virfual.conf to allow unencrypted http access. That allows you do use any browser, and should be fine on a home network.
