NV+ reporting most new disked as "failed"
I bought four 1TB Seagate ST1000DM003-1CH162-306 drives that were on the compatibility guide for the RND4000. Running RAIDiator 4.1.13 which says it is the most current. Drives are not recognized in smartctl database.
I put in the first drive and it initialized and failed during the sync. Put in another drive and it worked fine and sync'd full redundancy. Moved to second SATA slot and it initialized and failed so I thought, OK another bad drive. Put the 3rd drive in the 2nd slot and it initialized and failed as a dead drive during the sync as well. I put the 4th drive in the 2nd slot and it initialized and sync'd with success, only to fail as a dead drive about 30 minutes after it was fully redundant. The drives are fine as I can plug them into a USB craddle and access them and smartctl on another linux distro I can see the data on each drive.
I am downloading SeaToolsDOS to test them deeply but I get the feeling this is a problem with the NAS firmware. The drive firmware is CC49 and I tried to upgrade it last night as the website says there is newer firmware but the software said it was current. Seagate tech support said if the drives are more than 2 firmware revisions out, then they would have to create a custom ISO for it.
They also told me to ask my NAS provider which firmware version are they recommending for their "approved" drives. Netgear tech support says it is out of support and I would have to pay $219 to get help. I understand that it is an older unit, but I was a little frustrated that they say the drive will work on their website.
I have since moved back to the 3 original drives plus the one upgraded drive that appears to work.... At least if it stops working I can put the original 4th drive in and get it back to square one.
Any help in the matter would be greatly appreciated.

- biohazrdAspirantUpon calling back and talking to another support agent they suggested backing up the NAS, installing all 4 new drives and doing a factory reset on the NAS. It worked! Just wanted to follow up that if anyone else had a similar problem trying to expand their X-Raid from a ReadyNAS NV+ that they would at least know what worked for me.
