NV+ v2: Folder invisible after firmware update to 5.3.5

Hello,

After I updated my firmware to 5.3.5 I could neither see the "Browse" button in the configuration menu nor could I see my folder (not a share) from my Win7 desktop via "\\READYNAS\Folder_Name". I rebooted both ReadyNAS and my PC and now can see "\\READYNAS\Folder_Name". However, clicking on "Configure" in ReadyNAS Dashboard leads me to the configuration menu where the "Browse" button is still missing - hence I cannot see my folder. The menu bar shows "System | Share | Security | Sicherung | Add-Ons".

How do I get to see my folder? How can I add another folder?

Regards,
Dirk

  • My Win7 went into hibernation and after it came back the folder "\\READYNAS\Folder_Name" was no longer there: network path not found. I rebooted Win7 and still the same. I rebooted the ReadyNAS and still the same. I rebooted Win7 and then was able to access "\\READYNAS\Folder_Name". How come? Any ideas?
  • Need log in the system to do further checking. Please have a phone to netgear local call center.

Yes, that is right , 5.3.5 remove "Browse" button, what folder did you lose?
  • Was out of town for a week... Could I go back to the old firmware?

The folder not really lost but invisible to Win7 is a folder called "Dirk". Same name as my user account. And the folder does also not show up in the ReadyNAS console where I can see folders "backup", "Data", "media", and "Test".
  • There is a bug in the 5.3.5 firmware where the home folder sometimes does not show in windows explorer,
reboot your nas and it will come back i get the same problem on my duo v2 sometimes.
and as even said in his above post, you can not browse the home folders in frontview any more only the shared folders show now, and you can browse those by clicking on them, so what you are seeing is normal for frontview in 5.3.5.
