NV+ V2 stalling when 80%+ full (20047616)
i've recently purchased one of the Netgear ReadyNAS NV+ V2 units and have become very unhappy with it. it started out ok and could copy files to it at good rate, now that the unit is over 80% full i've been coming accross the smbd stall on IO Wait issue that seems to plague this unit :(
after coming to these fourms i found that there are many other users with the same issues and none of the solutions they have had for them posted around converting to EXT3 has made the copy issues any better for me.
i have linked the other topics i could find with same issues that have been plagueing me so far. i have logged a support case (20047616) with netgear but their "remote access policy" is very bad and i can't agree to it.

You are incorrect here, anyone can require an NDA for anything they don't want publicly disclosed. The changes themselves may need to be posted when the update is generally released. But there is nothing that prevents them from requiring an NDA to give you pre-release stuff. It is arguably silly for variable tweaking, but it is not illegal.ihartley wrote: "BTW as I understand it if you are just making changes to GPL based software you CANNOT subject it to NDA; i.e. tweaking variables, etc.
The GPL resources are here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detai ... -resources and http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detai ... rogrammersihartley wrote: Please can Netgear state under what terms the licenses on their products are made, and make freely available any and all software that is based on GPL licenses.
You are getting off-topic, if you want to start a GPL discussion thread we can split it. I don't recommend it though.
I agree, ihartley if you want to take up a GPL usage discussion the best place todo so would be http://www.fsf.org/ - robclarke411AspirantAgreed, ihartley - we want to keep this focused on the main issue. Please start your discussion on GPL usage elsewhere.
Hauser, like you I have not been given a date for 5.3.8 but have been told it is impending. If I have any more news I'll update you. - drattoAspirantWell....I'm in the same boat as everyone else here. I've been dealing with support for a while and got given the so called fix. They did advise me they are working on it, however there is still no ETA.
Since I have run out of space all together and need this resolved, I've asked for a refund under the New Zealands Consumers guarantees act as it states "do what they are made to do". I like the unit, however it's taken them far to long to resolve.
I'll let you know how I get on. - de_niroGuideguys,here is a new fireware which is able to fix writing issue of V2 unit, please note this is a test version, you can give this FW a try or wait until we released official 5.3.8
RAIDiator-arm-5.3.8-T18 - robclarke411AspirantBad news guys 5.3.8 doesnt work - I just installed and then started a file transfer, it crashed immdiately. Back to the drawing board unfortunately. Can other people confirm whether or not it works for them?

I got the same results as you did :( GG NETGEAR yet another false hope.... how can other vendors that have this same issue resolve it but STILL NETGEAR can't????
I'm glade I've blacklisted them for future purchases as this is totally unacceptable in the IT world these days!
disappointed NETGEAR... u fail :( - ihartleyTutorNow boys, don't be silly. This kind of bug would be found straight away when they run it through their extended test suites, extended to replicate the problems being reported... right?!??!
I've gone back to tried and tested methods now. I've strapped 2x32GB microSDHC cards to a pigeon's legs. When they reach my parents' house my Dad writes an ACK on a note and the pigeon files back. I've found the transfer speeds much improved over the NV+ v2. Now, if I can only find out how to enable "flap down" mode... - robclarke411AspirantI totally agree and am responsible for all IT purchases in my company. I wouldn't even buy a Netgear switch anymore because of this experience, what a disaster. If other vendors have managed a fix its clear that that is where the talent is. Netgear obviously don't have the skill to sort this, maybe they should outsource to QNAP?
- de_niroGuidecan someone PM me if you are experiencing this issue? we still need remote access to the affected unit and determine the best resort to fix this issue.

well NETGEAR won't remotely assist with my nas because I don't agree with the remote access policy and they haven't come up with anything to help me directly yet.
