Office2010 readynas oplocks prob (Support case 16666671)
Hello,
When I enable Oplocks on my readynas public share, I frequently get an error message when opening Office 2010 docuents. (the network is busy, try again later), when I open the file a second time is mostly opens directly.
This issue also happens on a client's network with the same configuration.
If I disable Oplocks it seems the Office 2010 work better, but then Windows Offline files won't work anymore, so that's not a solution.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and best regards

- djessenAspirantI too tried the upgrade to 4.1.8 firmware today and still have the same problem.
For the moment I've turned opportunistic locking off on the share - the problem goes away.
Can someone from Netgear please acknowledge that this is a known issue and is being addressed?
It's this type of lingering, unacknowledged issue that eats away at Netgear's reputation.

It seems like firmware 4.1.6 is ok and the problem started with 4.1.7 and continues with 4.1.8.
It's time to get this fixed... - DeeCee521AspirantI too have just upgraded my firmware to 4.1.8 from something before 4.1.7 (can't remember the last one - it may have been 4.1.6) and at the same time have upgraded several workstations to win 7 64bit including MS Office 2010. The one computer whose user works mostly in office is about to tear her hair out with the network busy warnings. If she tries again it goes through. i thought it was something I did, but now that I read other instances I'm beginning to think that it is a firmware issue. EVerything was rocking along famously until then.
Actually all of the this upgrading started with my being so happy with the ReadyNas NV+ I wanted to upgrade to the Ultra 4+, but that is another somewhat unpleasant story.....
Really NetGear -- I want this to work. I just need your help.
Edit: I read the suggestions about oplocks - and certainly I can disable them, but it was working just fine before with oplocks enabled, win7 some 64bit, some not and MS Office 2007. Our Revits are all over the map from 2009 to 2012 and we haven't lost any work there. (My revit guys just open a file and I chain them to the desk. Closing is slow, but it has always been slow. - janfrancartAspirantHello DeeCee52 I have tried a lot to get support for this case but Netgear states it's a Microsoft Problem, they say they can't do anythong about it.
Strange. - DeeCee521Aspirant

Strange.
So how do get MS and Netgear to work on this??? As I said, I started on the road cause everything had been working so well for a couple of years and just thought I would upgrade.
several things pop into mind...
No good deed goes unpunished....
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Oh Well
