OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
Update: It is now unofficially possible using NTGR images to update legacy hardware to os6.X See Post #3, for directions to install 6.2.1 on x86 Ultra and Pro Models. (ARM NOT SUPPORTED by this OS) ...
mdgm and I have decided that its time to lock this thread. So please do post any new OS6 on Legacy issues on their own threads.
OS6 v6.0.4 running great on first gen Pro BE. As noted fan control is funky, I think the AUX and SYSTEM temps are the same sensor? Performance graphing history is lost on a reboot (not sure if this is true for 'real' OS6 models). Volume rebuild / expansion functions though it took forever to do so if I was writing to a share. UPS connectivity is there but I find the same issues I've experienced with 4.2 OS (SNMP works until reboot then fails prompting a remove and add of the UPS).
Is it safe to update from the 'Check for Updates' button in Frontview?
Any chance NTGR will ban us all for talking about this? Any chance they'll write some code into 6.0.5 to hose anyone running OS6 on an unsupported device?
I hope not, while not a perfect solution (allowing this discussion does not imply approval or even tolerance of this thread) I'm certainly happy to run newer code with a filesystem less prone to silent, undetectable data loss.
