OS6 now works on x86 Legacy WARNING: NO NTGR SUPPORT!
Update: It is now unofficially possible using NTGR images to update legacy hardware to os6.X See Post #3, for directions to install 6.2.1 on x86 Ultra and Pro Models. (ARM NOT SUPPORTED by this OS) ...

Just powered down and swapped disks. The operational NAS will still boot with the other disks, the non-operational NAS will still not boot : (
The non-operational NAS has a CPU fan that is not working well. I swapped in the good CPU fan, it spins faster, but the NAS will still not boot. I still cannot get in to the boot menu.
What next? :robotfrustrated:
So the non-booting NAS remains broken when you swap the disks, the PSU and the RAM. The booting NAS works fine after all these swaps.
That suggests the problem is in the flash (possibly the boot loader). I don't know if the USB recovery tool for OS6 will work with legacy NAS or not. Hopefully Netgear will comment.
FWIW, the OS6 flash recovery executable has a product pulldown in the menu. However, all x86 NAS are treated as one choice.
So I am thinking it is worth trying the flash recovery.
I've tried 3 different usb drives so far with no luck. I'm holding the backup button on the front of the NAS down for about 15-25 seconds after booting with the usb drive in the front usb port. Maybe I will try one of the usb ports in the back. My poor ReadyNAS! Not many available on the used market either : (
