Password Protect USB Drive Connected to ReadyNAS

I have had a ReadyNAS for years. I would like to be able to password protect the connected USB drive that I use for a backup. Can this be done? The drive supports AES Encryption. It's really not productive to have to remove the device from the NAS and connect it to a PC to lock the drive. It's also not secure to just leave the device unlocked so anyone who wants can grab it and connect it to a PC and view all files.

Thanks

It can't be done with the current web ui.  But it's a good idea, and there are certainly lots of other folks who would be interested.  Perhaps post it in the idea exchange?

One challenge is that you do need to be able to access the data from a PC (windows or mac), so that will limit the technology that can be used.  Support for Veracrypt is one possibility.
