perl relocation error; undefined symbol
nas:~# perl -v
This is perl, v5.8.8 built for sparc-linux
Copyright 1987-2006, Larry Wall
Perl may be copied only under the terms of either the Artistic License or the
GNU General Public License, which may be found in the Perl 5 source kit.
Complete documentation for Perl, including FAQ lists, should be found on
this system using "man perl" or "perldoc perl". If you have access to the
Internet, point your browser at http://www.perl.org/, the Perl Home Page.
nas:~# /usr/bin/apt-show-versions
/usr/bin/perl: relocation error: /usr/lib/perl5/auto/AptPkg/AptPkg.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Tstack_sp_ptr
nas:~# ls -al /usr/lib/perl5/auto/AptPkg/AptPkg.so
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 131912 Oct 14 2004 /usr/lib/perl5/auto/AptPkg/AptPkg.so
Any idea what's going wrong/how do I fix this? Other perl stuff appears to be working.

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredSome things such as perl shouldn't be updated.
Did you do an?:
# apt-get upgrade
Doing that is not a good idea and will break things.
So you should make sure your backup is up to date and if an OS re-install doesn't fix it, you should do a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything). - thegooseAspirantIt's very possible that I did that (I do tinker with the system). I'm not against an OS reinstall, as long as it won't delete my data.
