Permissions don't work anymore RN10x 6.5.1

I recently upgraded to 6.5.1. Around the same time, I also moved over to the new readycloud single signon account. I seem to have done something to the permissions or the access: I (main user) can't access the NAS shares, but I can access them when I login from my daughter's account (who I set up as a user on the NAS).

 

My machines all run Windows. The permissions are open for "anonymous" with R/W access on the shares on SMB; for the "home" folder, the "admin" and "myname@email.com" (my readycloud signin) have R/W access. When I look at the individual shares, R/W access is enabled for "everyone", "admin" and "myname@email.com". On the accounts tab, there are only 2 accounts: "admin" and "daughter". I can't register the "myemail" account separately as it already exists as a readycloud account.

 

Are these the right settings? What else should I modify? Thanks for any suggestions!

    OK, success! I finally got this to work on all my machines. Here is what I did after searching for similar issues on the forum (in the ReadyNAS for Business section)

     

    In cmd window:

    confirm NAS is visible via ping on both \\nasname and \\nasipaddress

    type "net use * /delete" will remove any existing connections - wasn't an issue in my case

    type "net use t: \\nasname\data /user:admin password" this maps the NAS to t: drive  KEEP TRACK OF THE DIRECTION OF THE SLASHES

     

    Invoke windows credential manager (via search in Settings)

    create new generic Windows Credential:

    \\nasname\data

    login: admin

    password: 

     

    In Windows Explorer:

    Delete the old quick access link to "nasname" on the left bar

     

    type in \\nasname in the address ribbon - Works!

     

    Create new Quick Access link

     

     

     

     

    Thanks for all your suggestions. Most of the ideas here are in other ReadyNAS threads, if you start looking for the correct error messages (0x80004000 and 0x80070035).

     

    I don't use a very long email address (12 characters long, @ gmail dot com)

  • I had the same issue, Its big security risk that i found removed all anonymous access to all people.

     

    Netgear should have alerted on this change before upgrade.

      Hello diwakar,

       

      You cannot use the same email in the Cloud users and local users at the same time as NAS creates home shares fro each user (wether ReadyCloud or local. Why not use just the admin account? Admin account has all the privileges, such as seeing the Home folder where all personal folders of local and cloud users are located.

       

      Also, if the ReadyCloud user and Windows credential have the same email address, they should also have the same password.

        I would dearly love to use the admin login, but that doesn't seem to work either.

         

        In fact, if I go to the cmd window and type "net view" my NAS shows up in the list. I can also ping the NAS (ping nasname or ping 10.0.1.2) and the ping returns with 0 errors: BUT most times when I type in \\nasname (or \\NASNAME) or \\10.0.1.2 (I verified this address in the network tab), sometimes I get the login window and I enter the admin and default password, sometimes I don't but the response is "Windows can't access \\10.0.1.2" and the error code is 0x80004005.

         

        As I mentioned earlier, I can access the NAS with a browser (https://nasname) or from Windows Explorer from my daughter's account on the same PC. I'm really stumped!

         

        I appreciate any and all responses.
