Permissions/Password Recovery after NV+ upgrade to 4.1.9

Hi There,

I have an NV+ v1 running latest 4.1.9 code.
i have a single share called mydocs, protected by a password. this has worked fine for years with a PC(win 7) and a mac(10.7.4) accessing it. I use CIFS only.
I upgraded to 4.1.9 code a few days ago, recently trying to get the NV+ to backup to a USB disk (now THAT was a long painful process I can tell you!)
After the upgrade I tried to access shares:
1) using mac finder - i can see the shares OK, but when i select the share in finder and 'Connect As' mydocs\password i keep getting error message "The Operation Can't be Completed because the original item for "mydocs" cannot be found." This also happens for my USB drive share. (which does not have a password)
2) using a browser - i can view my data in browser for both shares, but only the USB share has a richer web interface with buttons at the top which allows me to upload files/create directories etc. the mydocs share only shows a very basic text only view that doesn't allow to do anything. how do i change the mydocs share to have a richer web interface?
3) i tried to log in to admin screen, without success. (unfortunately, when troubleshooting issue [1] above, one of the posts recommended deleting all keychain entries for the NV+. Its been a LONG time since my keychain remembered the admin password, so this could either be an 'issue' related to the upgrade, or i can't remember the correct password). Since I had the password recovery stuff filled in, I tried the password recovery process. Nada. (i see another person has same issue since upgrading to 4.1.9)

Any suggestions?

  • update:
    - performed password recovery (fw reinstall), logged in and changed admin password + network settings.
    - still couldn't login to front view after having done this, when front view asked for the new password.
    - in desperation, cleared my browser cache (safari).
    - i can now login. sigh. sorry guys, my admin login problem was browser cache related.

however the problem regarding mac finder access to share still exists, with error message as before.
i have found a workaround by enabling AFP...not ideal but i can access my files for now
