php5 & phpmyadmin - wrong password

Hello all.
I have installed the php5.3.10 and phpmyadmin 3.4.10 and can see both in frontview but when i try to log into phpmyadmin it asks for the username which i know is root but when i leave the password as blank it says "login without a password is forbidden"

does anyone know how i can get around this as i have googled and many sites say to change a line in /etc/phpmyadmin/config.inc.php but i can't even find where these php files/folders are stored on the readynas.

thanks for any help

  • Have you tried the same password you login to frontview with, because that's the admin password and that is probably what it is asking for.

What happens if you try your admin password (with root as the user name)?
  • Unfortunatly it is still the same.

I am not sure if I may have un-installed mysql yesterday when i removed the old php and phpmyadmin as i have read that it is built in and other add-ons like php5 and myphpadmin rely on mysql or am I on the wrong track?

if I am right, how do I re-install mysql?

    thanks
