so this thread been address my issue with the NIC

However, the other issue does not seem to have gotten any attention.

I cannot turn off the unit via the power button on the front panel.

    Great. The method of last resort is to do a factory reset and restore the data from your backup.
    
    You might try over-installing (manually installing the same firmware you are running now) and see if the NICs come back and/or the power button starts responding.
