Actually, all ReadyNAS are now considered "end of life", so no Netgear support is available beyond warranty.
ATA errors are tricky. They are the only SMART error that may not actually be the fault of the drive. One bad drive can even "contaminate" the SATA subsystem and cause ATA errors on other channels.
Removing each drive (with power off, once the sync has completed) and testing each with Seatools is your best next step.

I'm considering my old Pro Pioneer now too old and up for replacement. I'm a basic user with lots of work design files and big photos for backup storage. My redundant NAS is a RN316.
I'm wondering about replacing the Pro Pioneer with a Synology unit IF I can reuse the four WD181KFGX and two WD161KFGX "Red NAS" hard drives. I'm not a power user, and ease of setup for a home business non-IT person is key.
I'm wondering about a Synology DS1621+, but am just starting my search (my drives are not in their compatibility list, but the same model smaller-capacity ones are).
