Hello again -
Question: how bad is it for the drives if I fire up the Pro Pioneer again to compare file backup to my other NAS before I retire the unit? It is my hope to re-use the existing HDD's in a new NAS. The ATA error count reached 2000 on the drives today during the time it was on. Any meaningful data comparison and transfer will likely take a few hours and the sync will not have time to finish before pursuing that Seatools test.
I'm considering two 6-bay replacements based upon compatibility with my existing WD161KFGX and WD181KFGX drives, and price, and your opinions are welcomed!

ATA errors themselves won't harm the drives. Of course, whatever is causing them could get worse and the NAS stop working. At the very least, whatever it is will likely slow things down.
