Proper Procedure to Factory Reset a ReadyNAS Pro Pioneer Edition
Hello,
I have a ReadyNAS Pro Pioneer Edition which I would like to restore to Factory Default settings and am looking for the proper procedure to do this. Background, my system currently has six 3TB drives which I would like replace with six 2TB drives as part of the factory reset. I recently purchased a new NAS and have successfully migrated my data several months ago so I am now ready to restore the ReadyNAS so I can sell it with the 6 2TB drives. Do I pull the exisitng 3TB drives and replace them with the 2TB drives before the reset, or pull the 3TB drives, reset the ReadyNAS then install the 2TB drives? Basically I'm trying to create the equivalent of a fresh from the factory configuraiton with six 2TB drives.
The 2TB drives were previously in the device so they are hadrware compatible but were repurposed them when I upgraded to the 3TB drives currently in the device. I don't think it makes a difference but I only have MAC systems so I don't have access to Radar, if it is required.
Appreciate any guidance or reference on how to preoceed with minimal hassle.
Thanks in Advance
Tim

The 2TB disks need to be in the NAS.
There is a RAIDar app for Mac. You don't need to use it though.

Great Thank you, for avoidance of doubt:
1) Remove 3TB drives
2) Install 2TB Drives
3) Power Up while pressing reset button.
Is tbis the correct sequence? Once I power up will I be able to access via browser at 192.168.168.168, the default IP or will I need to use Radar?
Thanks,
Tim

Yes, there is more to doing a factory reset than that. For what you should do after your step 3, see the boot menu instructions in this article
If the NAS can pickup an I.P. address from your router via DHCP then you should use RAIDar. Alternatively you could look at the connected devices list for your router to find the I.P. address of the NAS and go to https://ip.address.of.nas/admin to confirm that the NAS has come up fine.If the NAS can't pickup an I.P. address or if you do a direct-connect then it will get the I.P. 192.168.168.168. You will need to set an I.P. for the NIC in your PC/Mac to one in the same range e.g. 192.168.168.100 so you can check that the device has come up fine after the factory reset.
