Proper way of reducing fan speeds

Question

Hello,&nbsp;now that ReadyNAS OS 6 has smart fan speed control built in, what would be best way to reduce fan speeds at the cost of increased system temp? Installing fanspeedcontrol would conflict with builtin control.&nbsp;Are there any config files for builtin fan speed control which can be edited?

The fan speed should automatically reduce gradually if the temps fall and remain below a threshold.
&nbsp;
The Ultra 4 fan needs to run reasonably quick to keep the PSU cool.

heat will shorten hard drive life, also affect cpu, motherboard, memory and power supply longevity&nbsp;suggest not even think about reducing fan speed&nbsp;&nbsp;

Well you are just stating the obvious.&nbsp;System temperature is 30c, cpu is 41 and the fan is too loud.&nbsp;There is absolutely no issue if it would run at 40c + 50c.&nbsp;So again, is there a way to reduce fan speeds at idle?

Or, rather, just so that you understand better, how to set ramping up temperature higher. I have custom fan and it's runnin at 1800rpm even though sys temp is 30 degrees.&nbsp;I want to lower that.
