Raid level Unknown - ReadyNAS 516

A friend/customer of mine did a firmware update in the weekend. After it rebooted it worked as per normal. You can read/write to the drive and use it normally and RAIDar report that all is OK. BUT when you lon into the web interface there is the message: Volume DISK 1  RAID Level unknown

No drives were removed or added.

All the buttons to get any further information are unusable so I cant look at logs or anything. Another root also didn't change anything.

Any help would be appriciated.

  • I solved this. There were a couple of issues.

    1. RAIDar was defaulting to Firefox and the latest firmware was not compatable with it. Another browser allowed access to the admin page.

    2. When the RAID was originally setup there was another volume that was deleted. Once the new firmware was installed for some reason this volume with 0 size and no raid reappeared alone side the main volume. Once this "random" volume was deleted the unknown raid error message went away and all was good with the world.

What do you see under System > Volumes in the web admin interface?

You cannot click on the Volumes button or any other once logged in.

I will personally take a look at it tonight to ensure what he is telling me is the same as reality
