RAidar can't see ReadyNAS Duo V2 on MAC

Can see ReadyNAS in Finder and also both Mac and NAS in router admin.  Router is a Netgear D7000v2.

Mac is 192.168.0.12

Nas is directly connected to router via ethernet and is 192.168.0.2

McAfee *might* be a culprit but I'm not sure

I do plan to do an OS re-install to reset the NAS password 'cos I've forgotten it, but that won't help the RAIDar issue - or will it?

Thanks,

Trevor

    Does your front panel say

    • "ReadyNAS Duo v2
    • or does it just say "ReadyNAS Duo"

    (ignore other labels for this).

Does entering https://192.168.0.2/admin in your browser bring you to the NAS admin page?

It sounds like you haven't accessed the NAS web ui in a while.  You might get an SSL version or Cipher Mismatch error when you enter that URL.  If you do, you need to install FireFox and set security.tls.version.min to 1 (browse to about:config and search for the setting).

There are other ways to deal with that issue, but first you should make sure you can access the web ui (and resolve the password problem).

No, it won't resolve the RAIDar issue.  Note you generally don't need RAIDar.  The only thing you can't do without it is put the NAS into FlexRAID mode.

Note the default admin password for the Duo v2 NAS is password.  The default admin password for the original Duo is netgear1.

Thanks for prompt reply.  To answer your questions:

Front panel says: ReadyNAS duo v2.  Product description (when I registered it) is RND2110v2.

Does entering https://192.168.0.2/admin in your browser bring you to the NAS admin page? No. Chrome browser displays

This site can’t provide a secure connection

      192.168.0.2 uses an unsupported protocol.

I'll try the Firefox thing next - as you suggest. I also have a Windows machine and I'll try on that too
      Thanks for help so far.

Unless that's Windows 7 and it still has IE, you'll have the same issue (just possibly with different syntax).  AFAIK, FireFox is the only browser that lets you work around it.  Note that it works around it for all sites, not just local ones, so it's best to reserve its use to accessing the NAS until you install the fix in the NAS, which I'm sure StephenB will guide you through once you have access.
