RAIDar 6.5.0 not finding ReadyNAS Pro 6

hello.  I just treated myself to a new Win 10 laptop.  I still have my old Win 7 that I did update to Win 10.  trying to get RAIDar setup on my new laptop. downloaded RAIDar 6.5.0 but it does not find my NAS.  gives me the msg:

RAIDar could not find any NETGEAR storage on your network. Check that your storage device is powered on and connected correctly. For more help, visit http://my.netgear.com.

but I am able to browse the volumes on the NAS using Win Explorer on both laptops, and RAIDar 4.3.8 is still working fine, shows all statuses, etc. on the old laptop.  btw - all devices ar eon the 192.168.1.x/24 network.

so should I rollback my RAIDar version to an older version, such as 4.3.8 like the old one?  thanks.

  • You can reach the web ui (frontview) of the NAS from the Win10 web browser?

Assuming that is the case, then the next step is to go into "turn windows features on or off" on the PC, and make sure the SMB 1.0 client is enabled.  4.2.x firmware only supports SMB 1, so you will need to enable it (and ignore any security warning).

After you enable SMB 1, try to access the NAS using file explorer.  Enter \\nas-ip-address in the address bar (using the real IP address of course).  Make sure you use the correct slash.

    Hi jonjon79,

    Welcome to the Community!

If you have Internet Security Software or firewall installed on your PC, you may try temporarily disabling it.

If the laptops are connected via WiFi, you can also try connecting them via Ethernet and see if RAIDar 6.5.0 will be able to detect NAS.

my apologies. only in the last 1-2 days did I get an email that I had replies/answers to my post.  I had forgotten I had posted for help.

anyway - no, issue not resolved.

I did try disabling security (McAfee firewall & real-time scan) but RAID-ar still giving same error message.  and unfortunately I have no Ethernet NIC/adapter/RJ-45 connection on my laptop to connect to the fixed network to try that avenue.

so, I'm not sure how to proceed but I am open to suggestions.

(for my Ethernet adapter, the Dell chat agent was a worthless waste of my time. when I asked about universal USB-C to RJ-45 compatability, I was refered to Dell Sales support.  so not sure how soon I can do that or get my hands on an Ethernet adapter.  but I'm wondering if the USB-RJ-45 adapter for my work Surface might work... might give that a try.)

any more suggestions are greatly appreciated. and again, I apologize for the delayed response on my part.
