Random "Connecting to the ReadyNas Admin Page" Screens #26273218
Looking for ideas or help on how to solve this issue.
When I am connected to my ReadyNas 516 via a web interface, I get random screens that pop up saying "Connecting to the ReadyNas Admin Page"...

Yes I figured that out. After paying for one year of support, the support agent suggested I turn off anti virus and then load firmware 6.4.1.
Guess what, the latest firmware has a major bug. The virus software causes file access to be extreamly slow.

I didn't get your logs.
There is a known issue with the anti-virus service and 6.4.1. You may wish to try disabling that service and going back to 6.4.1 and seeing if that makes any difference.

Thanks. I have sent you a PM requesting more details.
If you like I can review your case and can ask customer service what we can do. Note, if you want a refund and they approve that, support may ask you for a contract if you seek help with an issue unrelated to a firmware upgrade.Edit: I found your case.
Do you have the issue with Lightroom on 6.4.1 when AV is disabled? If you still have that issue, then to look into that problem I think support would need you to keep to contact.- McRob1Jan 08, 2016Luminary
I also had another issue with the NAS that support helped me with. It kept dropping it's connection to the admin page. After much troubleshooting with the help of Level 2 support they determined that it was not the NAS.
I continued to troubleshoot possible issues with my LAN and determined that it was my Apple Time Machine router. After swaping the router out with a non apple brand, all works normally again.
I was even able to get support from apple on the out of warranty, time machine without paying for a service contract. Different companies have different policies on support I guess.
I learned my lesson on which products to purchase in the future.
No need to request a refund for the support.
Thanks for asking.

In the IT industry 90 days support from the date of purchase is quite common.
After the 90 days this community and knowledgebase articles are good resources if your support warranty has expired and you don't wish to purchase additional support.
Apple is a company that has made huge profits and is one of the most valuable companies in the world. They have achieved success at selling a large volume of high margin products.
As a big user of Apple products myself, I know from experience that whilst they do go above and beyond in some instances there are still Out of Warranty things they charge for e.g. if a Mac breaks down out of warranty and needs parts replaced they can charge quite a lot.
We have a 5 year limited hardware warranty whereas Apple products come with just 1 year (unless statutory warranty requires more).Say your 516 chassis died after 4.5 years it would be replaced under warranty whereas with a Mac of that age you'd be looking at expensive repairs or buying a new one.
Having said all this for purchases of business class ReadyNAS products such as the 516 on/after Jun 1, 2014 we include lifetime (online) chat support.

Lightroom works fine with firmware 6.4.1 if anti virus is turned off. All file access is normal.
