Re-indexing NAS drive files

My ReadyNAS Duo is being used as the backup for the music on a Naim UnitiServe, which is now back with the manufacturer for repair. When using the NAS as the source and using an iPad as a control some tracks are duplicated. My dealer has recommended that I re-index the music on the NAs and would like to know how to do this.

I am not at all experienced network person!
