Nas &Ultra with OS6 Backup problem
Hi, I've successfully installed OS6 on my Pro & Ultra. Backing up to USB on the Pro & Ultra is a problem: 1. Is it possible to define either the rear left/right USB ports or the Front USB p...

1. It is the other way around. The Ultra 6 only has USB2 ports, the Ultra 2/Ultra 2 Plus/Pro 2 have a USB3 port on the front and USB2 ports on the rear. Yes, but what I was pointing out is that this clearly shows that there is a hardware difference so the USB ports would have a different path under the hood.
2. It is very low priority due to the support status for OS6 on legacy.
3. If you are comfortable with using SSH you could write your own backup script.

Are these ports hard wired in the code or they in a configuration file that could be modified.
If so could you give some pointers to where they might be located. I don't have an issue SSH and scripting but
I need a little guidance to what to try.
Thanks

Hi mgdm
I assumed my Ultra2/Pro2 front port was usb2 because it is blue, not red. Should have gone back and read the manual.
I'm at a loss how writing a script would enable me to address left/right/front usb ports. Any clues please?
I'm thinking another option on my Pro2 would be to go back to 4.2.x - is there a guide to do this?
Many thanks,
David

Most USB3 ports are blue.
This would have to be done via SSH and would require an advanced level of knowledge. Each USB3 port would have its own path and it is possible to know which port a device is connected to.
You would need to backup your data first as like upgrading from OS4 to OS6 this procedure would also require a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything). I'm brain dead I think.
I have red/pink (definitely usb), black and blue usb ports spread across computers, NAS's, hubs ... thanks for putting me right. (Slightly embarrassed actually ...)
