readynas 104 replaced drive rebuilt data still showing data degraded
Have a readynas 104 - drive in slot 1 failed - tested new drive all tests passed replaced with same make and model it detects and rebuilds volume showing raid 1 once rebuilt it still comes up wit...
Well I would backup the data onto another disk if you can (don't try and overwrite the existing data).
Then with only good new disks in the NAS do a factory default (wipes all data, settings, everything) and restore your data from backup.

is there a way to tell the sync to ignore the ata errors so the bad disk would sync with the good one as with the bad disk in the data is still readable.
It says it is rebuilding to the new disk and finishes but says not redundant so obviously it isn't writing the entire drive across.

The sync requires re-writing every sector on the newly inserted disk. If that fails you aren't in sync - so if some other disk fails it's content can't be reconstructed correctly. I don't think the ATA errors can be ignored, the system needs to take some action (re-issue ATA commands, etc) when they occur.
so it seems there is no solution for this scenario but to destroy the volume and re-setup all the shares and all the backup settings.
I wonder if I cloned the old disk to a new disk with acronis and then tried to resync which in theory should get past the ata errors which seems to be the bug bare.
Don't try cloning the disk just yet. Can you send in your logs (see the Sending Logs link in my sig)?
