Ready NAS 422 to replace WD Cloud
I am replacing a WD My Cloud with the Ready NAS 422. I can't see the WD with my Ready NAS software. I don't want a backup, I am looking for file storage.
Ok.
The easiest way to do that is to create the shares you need on the RN422. Then you can use the RN422 backup job capability to access the old NAS.
I'm not familiar with the WD products, but if they support rsync then I suggest you use that protocol. If not, you can use SMB - Windows/NAS (Timestamp).
These guides should help, but you will need to adapt them, as they don't cover copying data from a different manufacturer's NAS. https://kb.netgear.com/29788/ReadyNAS-Backup-FAQ
An alternative is to copy the data through a PC. That is slower, and not as reliable. If you go that route, I recommend using a utility that can verify. TeraCopy and FreeFileSync are worth a look. Also I suggest using wired ethernet for the PC connection, and not WiFi.

Are you trying to migrate the data?
ReadyCloud is only for ReadyNAS, so if that is the software you mean then you won't be able to see the WD NAS. But you can migrate the data in other ways.

Yes, I need to migrate the data. The WD My Cloud has been a storage for documents and I wish to replace it completely with the ReadyCloud 422. In the end, the WD My Cloud will be tossed out and five users will be able to access the data held on the ReadyCloud 422.
Thanks for your response.
