(a) are you sure you have a v2? The labeling is confusing... Check out this guide: http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how ... -or-nv-v2/
(b) There is no 10-second option after reboot. I think you are confusing the boot-menu instructions (when you are holding down buttons during boot up) with the normal boot up.
It is possible that your disk simply failed. The next step is to power down the NAS, and run the vendor's disk diags on a PC (seatools for seagate, lifeguard for western digital).
