Is the model of your NAS shown as "ReadyNAS Duo v2" in RAIDar (http://www.readynas.com/downloads)? What do you see under the Info (far right) column?
3TB drives not working looks like it could be an issue with GPT support for external disks then.
What filesystem (NTFS/FAT32/EXT3 or something else) do you have on your 3TB disks? Are they formatted correctly with GPT partitioning?
