Ready NAS NV+ Weird Network Issues
ok so this one is going to be a real weird one.
I operate at home Ready NAS NV+ NAS box with a 4.1.13 code. Been having issues with it for a while when it comes to network connectivity and finally today took bit of time to tshoot the problem. Get a load of this cr*p now:
- If I connect the NAS directly to my router any and all computers (desktops as well laptops running various OS types and versions) can access the NAS, manage it, manipulate files...etc.
- As soon as I connect it to my network via Linksys SD205 (5 port 10/100Mbps) unmanaged switch no matter what port settings I do on the NAS side or the router side while the link light is up and shows connected, but there is no way any of the boxes can access the NAS/ no traffic of any kind is present.
Now the weird part. When I connect through the same switch at the same time, and even if I switch CAT5's port positons one of my printers or other host (desktop or svr) I have no issues accessing those hosts/printer, but NAS is no show /MIA however when directly connected via ACAT5 into router its there and access to it functions like a charm.
For complete info the router is Verizon FiOS supplied host model MI424WR-GEN3I firmware ver 40.21.18
I'd love to hear any suggestion(s), of there is anu out there. In the mean time, I plan to update the NAS's firmware fo the 4.1.14 ver in hopes that will make a difference, but I am bit in advance doubtful :)
Thank you for any input any of you might have.

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat about if you use a switch with gigabit ethernet ports? Sounds like your Linksys switch is incompatible.
- SIPAnkhAspirantThat I don't know (not tested) since this is the only switch I have at this point available. Port on the router side is set to 100Mbps full duplex and this switch supports that setting, so with or without it NAS is communicating to the router port via 100 not 1000.
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserFrom a practical point of view, you'd be better off spending ~$25 on a new gigabit switch instead of trying to troubleshoot an old switch that was EOL back in 2010. You would need to make sure you had cat5e or cat6 cabling.l
Did you try setting the router side to auto? - SIPAnkhAspirantYes, all options tried and I tend to agree this appears to be waste of time, and few bucks won't hurt to upgrade switching capabilities.
