ReadyNAS 102 on 6.1.8 rsync password config fails #23712613
Trying to enable rsync password protection fails randomly on different shares.
Firmware 6.1.8
First attempt to create a user name and password to protect rsync on a share failed with unknown user.
Created user in user accounts with same name and password. This was not a requirement on the Duo systems.
Some shares allowed this new user and password, but others fail with "unknown user name" error when saving changes.
Shares are identical and created at the same time.
Had trouble with old Duo and thought that maybe things had gotten better.
Also can't NFS mount any shares

How are you trying to mount your NFS exports and what OS is the client machine running? - mrdAspirantUsing a password with only letters and numbers still does not work. Same error.
Tried different user names as well.
I'm trying to NFS mount under Ubuntu with various releases from 10.10 up. The same systems can NFS mount other shares not on the readynas. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredHave you opened support case(s) re these issues?
- mrdAspirantI have not. I assumed that the way to get support was through the forums. Is there a helpdesk to call?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYou have both these forums and our support open to you.
If you purchased the 102 within the last 90 days you are entitled to free basic phone support.
If it is over 90 days since purchase you can still use email support or pay for additional phone support.

If you do open a case be sure to get a case/ticket number and post it in this thread. - mrdAspirantCase number 2371-2613

- mrdAspirantStill no help from support on this case. Very disappoining...
Has anyone out there been able to get NFS to work on these systems and/or get rsync configured with passwords enabled on several shares?
Its very hard for me to understand how a product goes out the door with such obvious bugs.
