ReadyNas 104 - Scrub 12h in and still active but nothing accessible (6.7.5)
Anyone else has, or had, an issue where scrub would be active but no shares or admin page are accessible? Basically, scrub started 12h ago one one partition and it is now at about 28% (real slow...
Well about 18h later scrub is still going and the system even warn me via alert that Balanced failed to start on another volume that was schedule 2 days later. So obviously part of the system is fine but without being able to access it is quite useless. Perhaps the process got tangled and crashed other process or simply took all the ram but can't fine out since logs are unaccessbile.
Since I got no indication of the level of risk to restart the box, I will have to chance it as this is just ridiculous and I have lots of use for the box and several files waiting to be stored on it. I'll report back if something bad happen.
How long do your scrubs usually take?
Did you try getting the logs with RAIDar (which often will work even if the web UI isn't accessible)?
Scrub can be anywhere between 6h and 2 days hence why I tried to space all my process , even if not on same volume, by 2 days and 5 days on same volumes. Currently it was at 38% after over 42h and the rest of the system was inaccessible.
I did indicate in my original message although Raidar claimed the box Healthy I could not access diagnostics or log download as it kept returning the password was incorrect although it was the right one for sure. In fact, after restarting the box I just did that and the expected password worked fine which seem to indicate with the share inaccessible that the authentication process failed during all this.
As futher info, I was able to shutdown the box via the power button, it took ~12 mins to shutdown. The restart slowed at about 35%, 92%, and 95% but otherwise operation has resume normally as far as I can see now.
