ReadyNas 104 slow transfer

Hi there,

I have a ReadyNas 104 set to RAID 1 with 2 3TB Seagate Barracuda drives.

My issue is chronic transfer speeds.  I have my NAS connected direct via Ethernet to my Virgin Superhub 3, also connected via ethernet is my media player.

When transferring files between the 2 I get around 2MB a second.  When looking at the connected devices on my router both are supposedly connected to 1000mbps.

I am unable to strwm large files from my nas currently due to this issue which neccesitates me copying the files direct to the media player to play off the HDD, otherwise it stops every few seconds to buffer.

Please help.

  • To elaborate further the router is downstairs, the 4 ports are connected via ethernet to my NAS, my PS4, my media player (I have tried both my Western Digital Live TV hub and my Raspberry Pi).  The 4th port goes in to a 200MB TP link which connects to my PC upstairs.  When transferring from my PC to either my Media player or NAS I transfer at speeds of around 4MB (which is rubbish I know), though it does seem to deteriate in speed slightly as the file copies.

The media player and NAS are added as network drives on my Windows 7 PC and use Windows to drag and drop files.  When I transfer a file from the NAS to my PC it records similar speeds of around 3.5MB but when transferring to the media player this can drop to under 2MB.  I am not the most savy when it comes to networking so would really appreciate any help.

I am running 6.2.2 firmware on the NAS and have messed about with the settings to no avail.
